I always keep a document on my computer and during the year I keep track of my accomplishments and any praise that I get throughout the year. That is what I use to negotiate a pay raise. If you aren't getting raises, it might be time to start looking for a new company.

I would definitely ask! Just talk about how hard you work, how few sick days you've taken, all the responsibilities you've taken on, people you've trained, etc. You should be getting annual raises at least!

The problem with retail nowdays is they don't want to pay anyone more unless you move up the ranks. Most places around here are set in stone for the rates regardless of experience etc...

Make a request to have a meeting to discuss your salary. Be ready to speak about your accomplishments this far and how much you have grown and contributed. Also speak to how you are senior member of the team, you know the systems in and out and are very familiar with all processes, so much so that you could train and mentor others. Also bring up market pay and compare to others with your experience in the market

In retail the arguments that seem to land best are measurable ones. Things like performance metrics, reliability, training new people, or taking on responsibilities beyond the role. If you can show how you contribute beyond the baseline it gives managers something concrete to justify.

It helps to focus on your experience, reliability, and any measurable results you bring. Highlighting how you’ve grown in responsibility or saved time/money for the store can make a stronger case than just pointing out how long you’ve been there.
