I have the CSR card since 2018. I don’t see myself traveling much in the next 3-4 years to justify the $550 fee. Is it possible to downgrade to preferred and get the 100k bonus? Contd.

No you can’t downgrade any card and get the bonus. You can get a Chase freedom which has no annual and transfer the points to that card but they will lose redemption value (1 point per dollar vs 1.5 points for CSR). Chase is currently still only charging $450 for annual fee and with the $300 travel credit that can be used for groceries you’re really only paying $150.

They also still have a DoorDash credit and 10% back on Lyft (15% if you redeem for travel/pay yourself back)

What happens to the points that I already accumulated via sapphire? And I already paid the fees for this year, is that lost too?

You can do the “pay yourself back” option to wipe out your points on restaurant and grocery spend reimbursement. This replaced the travel bonus benefit as my go-to during covid

helpful

Two options:
- call and ask for reduction / waiver
- downgrade CSR to freedom/free card and apply for sapphire preferred

Hello! I joined a company in the UK 6 months ago, and received a £20,000 gross sign on bonus - clause associated to this however was that I stay for a minimum of 12 months. Unfortunately, the role is really proving to be the wrong fit, and I am looking to leave.

Question for you all - if I resign, I assume I would be expected to pay back the sign on bonus despite me only receiving approx 12k after tax. Anyone know the process for a tax clawback for something like this? Thanks in advance!

Can someone point me to some material where I can read about profit sharing vs 401k. I get the concept, but I am trying to understand is 10% profit sharing vested over 5 years better than an employee 401k match of 6%?

From my understanding 10% PS is better because it’s just a standard 10% on top of whatever I contribute though it takes 5 years to vest. Does this mean if I leave before 5 years I don’t get any of it?

Advice & resources? My spouse and I are starting to make good money (ages 28 & 31, $105k & $70k) with $10k in savings (we were hit hard financially this year) and 2 car payments.

We live in a cheap apartment ($1.3k) that is sh*tty. Don’t quite have a down payment (especially not in ATX). Is it dumb to rent a house for a year at $3k/month while we save up again?

We both didn’t come from $ and are figuring out how to not be idiots 🙃 tbh we would prefer to rent forever but that feels dumb???
