Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

I've never heard that particular axiom. I have heard the key to success is setting a lower expectation and exceeding expectations. Or under-promising and over-delivering. For example, if you tell the customer the project will be ready in three weeks and then deliver it in two, he thinks you're some kind of genius. If you tell him it will be ready in two weeks and it takes two-and-a-half, he thinks you've been dilly-dallying.
Beat deadlines and budgets
Idk about the under delivering part but I totally co-sign the underpromising part. I've always said "underpromise and over deliver" but I think what I live in practice is "underpromise and deliver adequately" lol. I don't want to over deliver because I don't want people to get high expectations for the next assignment. I just want to do what's required of me and then live the rest of my life
