I just got an offer for a Commercial AE role in NYC—$95K base, $90K variable. It's a solid jump from my current role ($80K base, $60K OTE), but the comp plan looks super aggressive. I’m not sure how realistic 100% attainment is based on what I’m hearing from Glassdoor and reps on LinkedIn. How do you guys evaluate whether an OTE is actually achievable before you take the leap?

First thing I’d do is ask the recruiter or hiring manager directly: “What % of reps hit quota here last year?” If they dodge the question or give you fluff like “our top performers are crushing it,” that’s a red flag. You want to hear that at least 60–70% are consistently hitting OTE.

Their advice are ALL ”Spot ON” My only Q’ was are you already in NYC… If not Cost of Living.. this may not be a pay increase @ All.

I’m a Commercial AE in the Midwest, my base is 120K, 240K OTE. I think you need to ask for more.

You have to ask (preferably in writing) how many reps on each team hit quota for each of the past 2-3 years. This weeds out any outliers.

If at least 2/3rds of each team is hitting quota, it's realistic. If it's a 1/3rd or less, then you should reconsider it.

This is extremely low for another AE in myc. I started af $160k base 2 year signing bonus of $80k, 100 stock shares before the split (2000 today) plus my OTE $300k-$350k

I am in the wrong damn industry !

Given all the recent buzz about expected large raises around the big 4, I’d like to level set on the average salary for a 4th/5th year female senior manager in federal tax ( credits & methods group) in the Midwest - Chicago/Minneapolis/Detroit market. Anyone willing to share a range if they work in a similar area of tax / similar level? I recognize all groups vary greatly in salary expectations, so looking for input specific to my area. Current expectations set at 140-160k. Reasonable?

“Job hopper” and “quiet quitting” are all schemes made up by boomers to make you think everything is the employees fault. When in reality people are just getting out of bad situations. Except our generation will just leave amid we’re being mistreated, not complain for 35 years making 50k and 0 advancement.

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…
