I just had an offer rescinded because I pushed back on their initial base salary. They offered a $70k base for an AE role that requires five years of enterprise experience, and when I asked if there was flexibility to move it to $85k based on my track record, they sent an email saying they were moving in another direction. Their job description said the range went up to $95k. Is the job market getting so tight that companies are actively punishing reps who dare to ask for their actual market value?

It's not about punishing anyone, they have probably 5 or 10 more candidates that made the short list, and want to pay $70k.

Yes, the market really is that bad from a job seeker perspective. I've been looking for over 6 months now after havingbeen laid off, and have had a shockingly low amount of engagement over this last half a year.

I know that some other associates at my level are approximately 30% behind other associates in hours on a month to month basis. Yet all of these associates say they are “at capacity”, and myself and another associate still end up being assigned work instead of them. How do we handle this? For reference, all associates are around the firms minimum requirement, it’s just that a few of us are 30+% over and it is leading to burnout.

I work as a Business Development Manager at a sports club.. I’ve been given a couple of months “trial” in the 6 figure and above sales in which I don’t see going back to my other role on lower sales. I am planning on asking for a raise in my base salary and I am unsure what the market price would be for my skills at a staffing agency. I am in the top producer at my company with over 50 producers. I generate an average of $120k in GM per quarter. I am approaching my first year end review and I am currently at a base salary of $70,000 and I have 3 years of prior experience in the industry. What should I be asking for in this situation?

I’m a top producing salesperson at a mattress company generating about 400k GM a year. Total compensation is around 75K a year. I was curious if this is in line with the industry?

For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? Ie; a part time employee getting $200.00 in a quarterly bonus and then not being scheduled a whole week during a bi-weekly pay period where they would have earned more on the clock…?

like

I feel like I've been lowballed, can someone explain the below breakdown please?

Base salary: 60k
Quarterly quota (per quarter): 107k
Quarterly bonus (per annum): 23k
130% Annual bonus = 11.5k
"23% commission on quota minus base": 37k (don't understand this)
"Proposed 23% commission on 150% quota minus base": 86.5k
Sales commission threshold per month: 22k
OTE: 122k
Cost/Sales: 28%

That base salary is lower than my previous base by a significant amount by 32.7%
