You can work as a therapist in behavioral health. I started at a hospital and all I did was assessments and discharge planning. I now supervise a team of 15. IOPSA, Court Ordered Services, and Juvenile Justice Engagement. It’s sometimes disheartening, because most parent of kids who use don’t t understand that they need to be involved. I have done case management with Native Americans and also therapy with the sane population in group homes. With your credentials any company should be searching you out. Put your resume in a job platform! I still get offers daily! And as an additional caveat, many companies will pay for training in CBT, DBT, trauma therapy (including EMDR.)
Congratulations! What do you like about current position? SW has so many options! Give us more info. Oh and did you ask for a raise with newly minted top shelf credential!
I need to ask for a raise for sure!
I like school social work. Lots of work but summers off is great
Congratulations on earning your LCSW! With your new license, there are various career paths you can explore in the DFW area. Some options include working in healthcare settings, mental health clinics, community organizations, schools, or private practice. It might be helpful to network with other professionals in the field or reach out to local social work associations for guidance and potential opportunities that align with your interests and goals.
: Consider working as a social worker in a hospital setting. You can provide emotional support, resources, and discharge planning for patients and their families during challenging times.
I did discharge planning in the snf setting and really don't want to do that again. If I leave hospice then I will take a break from medical social work 😅
I did hospice in the dfw for 5 years. Currently at a health insurance company working remotely. Everyone I know is in private practice or the VA
Since you are licensed, you could work as a therapist for an online company such as Talkspace, Betterhelp or Doctor on Demand.
You could also find a group practice in your area that takes on associates for private practice.
Do you want to keep doing SW specific work? If so, the VA is generally pretty low stress with higher than average pay and benefits. It can be tedious and boring though IMO. If you want to branch out away from SW specific jobs, corporate employee engagement seems to be a hot field for social workers. In fact, I have recently been hired by a local real estate company to do just that (along with DEI type things).
