PSA: With tax season is around the corner I just wanted to share that CashApp (Square) allows you to e-file individual Federal return and 1 state return for free (with NO income limit), and the best part is it supports ALL essential forms for stocks like 1099s and Sch D (gain loss on stock including crypto). About to head to the HC for a role in ProdOps and Strategy in Mountain View. 4 YoE at MBB, no competing offers. Recruiter gave me a form that asks expected comp.
Levels.fyi has only PM salaries. I haven’t been told the level but expect it to be L4.
What total comp would you expect for this role? Any advice would be super helpful, as I’m a bit lost.
Great tailors in the NYC/NJ area?
Any of you still flying to client site?

Hiring standards go up and down based on need for people and available labor pool.
Nothing here seems like it would be disqualifying unless the mistakes were significant (ie approach was wrong).
Probing questions are normal and should be expected. It’s very possible they understood but wanted to test the depth of your response/ how well you actually understood it.

Don’t confuse it being clear to you with it being clear to your audience. Communication skills are tested for exactly this reason.
As someone who has been part of undergraduate campus recruiting in the US, I can guarantee that as long as you are able to explain your process and the process was mostly correct then they won’t necessarily care that you got the wrong answer. Interviews are stressful and sometimes people get their math jumbled due to stress. Not a big deal, and the interviewers know this.
I would doubt that they bin you for a calculation error. I am US based but I only ever focus on the approach.
But that said, I feel like hiring is slowing down and they may have a higher threshold than they had even a few months ago.
I got trashed for a calculation error in one of my interviews with MBB. Don’t think D is that anal though. As long as you are able to formulate an approach and explain your thought process you should be fine.
The interviewer giving you the back and forth is probably new to interviewing and is trying to make an impact in front of more experienced peers or superiors.
