I work in US Tax and had an experience of 3 year. Had got an offer of 14Lpa in another big4,but still don't feel like continuing in US Tax. As taxation is something I do feel like I don't want to make a career anymore, because of work life balance & also as it specialised. Please suggest other option worthy to make a career shift. You guidance will be extremely helpful. My highest qualification is M.com.

How is your sleep? After feeling very fatigued and my wife saying I snore loudly I went in for a sleep study. I was prescribed a CPAP.
The difference in my sleep using the CPAP was immediately noticeable. I finally had the energy to start cooking more healthy foods and exercising. That contributed even more to increased energy levels.
I stopped with the energy drinks and even coffee almost a year later now.
I will look into the sleep study as I have been feeling pretty fatigued. Thank you! 😊
Get better sleep, exercise and eat healthy. That will give you a lot more energy than relying on caffeine all the time
Years of hard work have piled up and your body can’t handle it any more. Burnout. Do some research. If possible go on a break for few months.
I have worked in PA for over 13 years and resigned this year. What is happening to you now was happening to me last year. At the end of the day, I was burning out from stress, deadline demands, life, etc. In a nutshell, I had stretched myself too thin among competing interests.
I took extended leave last year, went into therapy to help me identify root issues and causes of my unhappiness, fatigue, etc. , prayed on it etc. My fatigue was so bad that I was falling sleep while working, driving, etc.
The first then you have to do is really take a hard look at yourself and identify root issues. Fatigue is usually a symptom of burning out which can easily lead into depression. For me, my issue was lack of boundaries with ptsd from life events and work.
At the end of the day. You have to ask yourself what you want and what is important to you. After I left PA, I am less stressed, sleeping better. Lost 30 pounds, and overall happier so far.
Make sure to hit the gym a few times a week. Have a hard cutoff at night, and try to make sure you’re in bed (not doom scrolling) asleep by that time. Also take a look at what part of it is really stressing: client mix, load, staffing, unreasonable expectations, etc. There are only a few things you can really control, so once you get a handle on those I would t worry about the others. Watch out for the overly developed sense of ownership as well.
That last sentence sums it all up. That’s what makes it hard to have a hard cut off, which affects everything else. This is the best advice to stick to and the hardest to follow.
PA is a joke and it’s a wonder people don’t just drop dead at their desk.
Have you gotten an iron panel (ferretin/transferrin/iron saturation) done and a vitamin d test done?
I’m on the same boat except it’s my adderall. PA has burned us out
Eat a healthier diet, drink 0 caffeine or alcohol, spend time outside walking, lift weights, and you will sleep better!!! Even during busy season, you need to prioritize your health.
I got sick right after tax season my blood pressure shot up I was getting migraines and back pains.
In June I decided to cut back my hours from 6-7 days a week to 3 and felt better immediately.
This may be my last tax season. It's not work killing yourself.
Had same issue. I had vitamin D deficiency. Get a full blood panel. Surprisingly a lot of blood work does not test for this. Good luck
I had a similar issue with almost debilitating fatigue (not chest pains) and my bloodwork revealed my thyroid hormone levels were severely imbalanced and it was shutting down my metabolism (hypothyroidism). Now I take a daily pill and feel a million times better.
I take a few trips a year and don’t plan on stopping any time soon.
