AdColor is cliquey. MAIP is all about fellows and alum. Try 100 Roses from Concrete which is welcoming and is less than 3 years old and only cares that you are an active member vs just looking for a job board.
I feel the exact same. Their membership seemed based on their Futures program but I started in advertising a bit later in my professional life than some so I was ineligible. When I asked for more information, a rep wrote me back and said to “look at the site”, which is where I found her email address in the first place.
Definitely ran into that unresponsive energy too lol

Definitely Marcus Graham Project!! Love them and the work they’re focused on.
Really feels like it used to be a community but now feels like a clique. I consider previous Futures to be friends and mentors. Was encouraged to apply and the interview felt amazing in the moment — had never been interviewed by a black person before. They ended up getting upset with me for adding them on LI and eventually ghosted me after saying they wanted to offer career advice.
Left a bad taste in my mouth about the whole program. I thought it was about broadening networks and mentorship?
I’ve been sponsored by other companies like the big tech AdColor sponsors to attend, and felt like such an afterthought because I didn’t pay my own way to be there.
The program no longer seems accessible to those who are first generation college graduates or professionals, like it used to be.
It’s very work politics but ergs do benefit from it and I does help with planning and programming
I’ve had the same road blocks I made it to the final round of their futures program but the interview I had was off (not bc of me lol) and I have wanted a stronger connection with the community but it’s been hard.
Honestly I’ve made peace with being on the outside and building my own community.
I’m feeling the same. Happy you made peace with it and hope I can get there one day ⭐️
If you’re trying to work with them, it is not your role to clear the roadblocks
Can you expound on this? I’m not following
Interesting complaint given how they’re mission is supposed to make it easier for anyone to connect with them.
And I do want to mention that I’m not complaining
What specific roadblocks have you encountered? Perhaps identifying and working through those might give you the breakthrough you're seeking.
I’ve applied to the Futures Program twice and got dinged both times, reached out to current and past Futures to make connections and that hasn’t gone anywhere, and overall I don’t feel like adcolor is the place to make my home in marketing.
