Knowing how much brand-side hates change (or free-thought), you can ask but since your title has already gone through 20 layers of corporate approval the odds aren’t in your favor... save time and political capital by simply putting whatever title it should be on your LinkedIn and call it a day.
Gotcha! I should have asked upfront, but I was nervous about salary negotiation. The title seemed less a priority at the time
Titles in corporate are very different than agencies and mean different things. You will likely not be able to change it for the reason cited above.
Agree with the others. I went in house and what is a manager/associate director role is a “lead.” You’d be surprised how much political maneuvering goes into a job title—went through this with a PM I hired last year. Ultimately, HR does everything to keep titles lower to avoid additional cost. Really rubbed me the wrong way TBH.
So true. Wish I would've known beforehand. Prob wouldn't have left agency land.
