As long as fixed to fixed hike is certain expected percentage, you should not bother. For example, I had decided that both my new fixed and new ctc, should see at least 50% increment from current fixed and current ctc.
I had a similar situation with epsoft. We agreed on a number before the interview and based on that i gave the interview. But after all the rounds I was being told that the new budget is 30% lesser than the discussed one. I focused on the fixed component. Don't have much hope with variable. For employees company is always in loss while for investors it's always in profit. So focus on how much you are getting in fixed.
My fixed component came down as they increased variable for same CTC. Fixed component hike came down to 46%, earlier told number was giving 53%. I see other colleagues are easily getting around 60% hike in fixed component!
