Bain & Company Bain & Company Do you have any insights into what they are expecting in the second (last) round? I saw that there are two cases and a presentation. Are they more interested in professionalism than the "analytical" skills assessed in the first round? Do you have any more insights into the presentation?
Many thanks in advance

Hi,
If I get referred at IBM, get a mail for details from the HR but do not reply as I currently don't want to switch because of some reasons, can I get referred again after say 3 months?

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

this ^ ride it out — hope that it might even be a layoff and you can ride severance / insurance for a while 🙏🏻 God Bless, hopefully it's nothing bad
I don't think getting fired shows up in your resume unless you out it there
PWC2 - agreed. All this depends on how long OP has been employed there and how long previous jobs were for. If it’s over 11-12 months, I wouldn’t sweat it at all.

Get that severance
Like others said, wait it out. Resume-wise, each option will both show the same date if you quit/get fired/laid off (unless they give you notice for a layoff). You’d have to still explain anyways if someone asks.
If you quit immediately, you more than likely won’t be able to get unemployment. If you give 1-2 week notice, they can always just fire you on the spot.
If you get laid off, you might get few extra weeks to prepare for the layoff. You could get severance in addition to being able to file for unemployment.
The only scenario I’d be worried about is if you do get fired and they refuse to give you unemployment. Has there been documented instances of warnings/improvement plans prior? If no and you do get fired, you may be able to negotiate a better severance (if you want to go that route – companies always want to avoid litigation). Whatever happens, be gracious and don’t sign the separation agreement right there on the spot. Do ask them if you’ll still be eligible for unemployment and try to negotiate extended health insurance.
Many of us have been in your situation before. For what it’s worth, you may qualify for additional unemployment benefits depending on stimulus package. Good luck and start applying for jobs!
And miss out on possible severance and qualification for unemployment? For something you yourself would have to put on resume for it to be there? Come on, nope.
At McKinsey, they don't log the reason you left, quitting and "fired" after the same. I'd advise lining something up before leaving though if you don't want to be unemployed.
