Finish your contract
You have a contract…
Leaving the military before the end of your contract can be a difficult and complicated process. Here are some general steps you can take to initiate the separation process:
Speak with your commanding officer: Schedule a meeting with your commanding officer to discuss your concerns and explore your options. They may be able to provide guidance on the process for leaving the military and offer support or resources to help address any issues you may be experiencing.
Consider counseling or mental health services: If you are struggling with personal or mental health issues, it may be beneficial to seek counseling or mental health services through your military medical provider. These services may be able to help you address underlying issues that are contributing to your desire to leave.
Explore your options for separation: There are various options for leaving the military, including voluntary separation programs, early release programs, and administrative separations. Your commanding officer can provide information on the eligibility criteria and process for each option.
Consult with legal resources: Depending on your circumstances, it may be necessary to consult with legal resources, such as a military defense attorney, to understand your rights and the legal implications of leaving the military before the end of your contract.
Be prepared for potential consequences: It is important to understand that leaving the military before the end of your contract can have consequences, such as a negative impact on your discharge status, loss of benefits, and difficulty finding civilian employment. Make sure to weigh the pros and cons carefully before making a decision.
It is important to approach the process of leaving the military with a clear understanding of your options, rights, and responsibilities. Seeking support from your commanding officer and other resources can help you navigate this challenging process.
Excellent information
Med board, dishonorable, AWOL. You can actually buy out your contract as well, but your best bet is just ridin that bad boy out. I got 11 months left and I started out processing and it’s an incredible feeling.
Ride it out, build bridges, and take it as a really long practice session. Use all of the resources available to you, and make the most of your time.
Take advantage of all the resources the military offers you asap so you can set yourself up once you are ready to transition. Stay positive and handle your business. You got this!
Go to McDonald’s every day lol. Kidding, just complete your contract. I’m 6 weeks away from my ets and I felt how you feel now about a year ago. The army wasn’t for me. However, we both signed the line to a contract to finish. You will end up regretting getting out early if you get an other than honorable or something bad on your permanent record. There are tons of resources you can take advantage of to make your army days less “Army”
Finish the 4 years. Believe me you will want the benefits.
Embrace it
How long have u been in?
You signed a contract... Finish. If you take the easy road now you will find yourself quitting everything else in life and basically be a looser.
Take this time to take advantage of the benefits. Work on a degree for when you get out. The more you do now, the easier it will be on outside to finish.
Your EAOS will creep up on you quickly if your focused on bettering yourself for what's next.
There are a few ways to transition out and help yourself at the same time. Look into the Palace Chase and Palace Front programs. Both will allow you to transfer into the Air National Guard or Reserves. One of the programs allows you to curtail your enlistment and the other would be at the end of your enlistment, that’s if you wanted to continue serving outside of active duty.
Seek out the Career Assistance Advisor at your base. They will be either in the education center or the MPF facility.
Ain’t no sense in looking down ain’t no discharge on the ground just finish your contracts the other options are not worth it
Wait it out. Most Soldiers in your predicament eventually stay in, especially if you are only going through BCT currently. The sun shines brighter on the other side.
Fulfill your enlistment, the long term benefits will far out way getting out under less than honorable conditions.
The military is not for everyone, but like everyone else is saying here, finish your contract. Anything short of that would endanger you being able to gain the benefits of military service- like the GI bill. Use that as your springboard to get to where you actually want to be.
Research what you want to do on skillbridge, keep your leadership in the loop. But by all means, stay in good graces with your command and finish your contract.
Oh, also go to the clinic for everything that's bothering you physically or mentally, the VA benefits add up and can really help down the line (in Florida, 100% VA disability gets property tax breaks)
