I want to switch from IT Audit to Cyber. Have my CISA and working as a First year Senior at a Big4. What certs can I get to break into cybersecurity considering I only have FAIT and external audit experience?

Forget about certs, find a cyber project to work on at your firm.

like

The cert will help you get your foot in the door on a cloud project

Was in a similar position as you. Got the CISSP and worked on some side projects on my own time, and someone in the tech industry was good enough to give me a chance. Although it took me more than a year of continuous interviewing and rejection to get there. But I was able to finally make the change.

helpful

get the security+ and say 3-4 cloud certs (in one cloud). Also get experience building and hardening the environments

Pick one cloud and learn it really well. Get at least 3-4 professional certs in that cloud

what big4. I am in final process of making the switch

I also have had some direct experience in PM and will be building those specific skills in my new role.

So stuck. What do I do? I joined this firm a year ago (4 yrs exp total) to grow/get more court/client exposure. Then 2 more-experienced associates were hired, pandemic, & all cases are divided between the other 2. I have no defined tasks except deficiency letters or the odd pro bono case. Boss claims it's mentoring. I still need to meet bill req.

Last wk Boss said I'll do more & my work was good, but today said I can't 2nd chair bc I don't have experience. I'm doing less now than my prior firm.

My current employer has a not great work/life balance but it’s much easier to get promoted. Please let me know if any of you would be comfortable doing so.
