I want to take my son on a cruise without my wife and daughter. Totally time away would be 72 hr. My wife is worried about the cruise because it’ll be tough for me to get back in case of emergency

It may be time to assess the odds of things happening, anxiety, and learning to relax.

DD1 and P1 are on the right path. This isn’t about emergency planning (unless your other family members have extreme health issues or something), this is about control and boundaries and trust. That’s an entirely different conversation that I am guessing she doesn’t want to have.

Back home. What’s my best argument against this? I mean. What’s going to go wrong? And even if something does go wrong. The cruise stops in the Bahamas. I could just fly back from there if necessary.

Holy. Build a healthy boundary, assign delegates and take sometime off. You aren’t saving lives here.

Also note she is fine with us going on a trip to a land based destination and not going on a cruise.

Issues aside, that sounds like a great idea and good work trying to get some quality time with your son. 🚢🏖

How would she feel about the entire family going on a cruise? This could just be a concern about limited medical options on a cruise which is real concern, even if remote. They only fly the helicopters out on the most serious of cases on the ship and if it’s a problem at home you don’t get off until you get to port and flight options in the Caribbean are limited.

It’s a cruise on a luxurious ship, you’re talking about it like you’re taking him tight rope walking over the Grand Canyon

Have you ever taken a job you know you will hate because you needed the money right away? I have a family to take care of. I don't want to be plowing through our savings for selfish reasons like my mindframe at work, but I don't want to make our lives worse by being miserable. It's a matter of really ruining some of our financial future if we don't get money soon.

24 year old moving to the west coast from the east coast and living in a big city. I don’t really know anybody in this city. I’m debating if I want roommates. I think I’d like the perks of living alone, but I’d also love to have someone to be around just generally. I’m in a long distance relationship so I don’t need to worry about bringing randos back for hookups or anything. Anyone have any thoughts or advice on the decision to get roommates or not?

Gonna bite and post in here even though it’s scary! I’m just having a tough time getting over my 3 year relationship. I’ve been spending weeks trying to pin point where things went wrong. He was very cold to me in the end and completely cut me off so suddenly. I was going through some personal issues this summer related to family & work that made me quite stressed & anxious. I tried my best to not let it show but you can’t help what you feel when you’re struggling. When he broke up (cont…)

If you could go back and start over would you still choose this path? Or would you choose a different career and/or a different time to have children? I accidentally became a working parent in law so while I love my job and my children I don't think I would have planned it quite like this.

As a divorcee with a kid, i find it extremely hard to find friends who can relate, or even making friends as it seems there’s a stigma attached to you because your relationship didn’t work out.

Boyfriend and I have been dating for ~1.5 years and we still only spend weekends together. I want to move in together at the 2 year mark but bf thinks it’s too soon... just feels our relationship is stagnant and not going anywhere. Any thoughts from ppl who’ve gone through similar situations?

How have you combated your fear of rejection? I fixate on such small things as when my friends, for example, reject plans I have made. This definitely makes me more averse to putting myself out there and makes me ruminate on past perceived failures, which are clearly not good for personal growth

Any ideas on how to keep kids social distanced while walking in line? Teaching personal space in line is difficult in normal years, but I'm not sure how I'll teach them to stay 6ft. apart as they walk or wait in line...

Need advice and help.

I have realized I grew up in a household where my dad did not treat my mom as an equal. He belittles her, is rude and convinced his way is the only way.

It is painful to say, but some of this shows up in me and in my relationship. I am starting to catch myself, and it to me seems to be more of a reaction than anythjng that is ever intentional.

Wondering if anyone has dealt with something similar, and any success in making changes besides therapy. Cont. in comments

A long post: seeking some perspective. My husband of 2 years that I’ve been in a relationship with for more than 8 years just woke up one day and told me that he’s unhappy in our relationship. I’m devastated because he’s never expressed anything like this in the 8 years. He’s been super supportive and loving, even when we were in a long distance relationship. He supported my career and dreams and this just doesn’t make sense. We have gotten a counselor but things aren’t getting better. Comment>

With my wife for 14 years, 2 kids under 8y - both under a lot of pressure bc Covid/work/private life/… and have been (unconsciously) running away from our couple not working “since a long time” (dixit my wife). We want to try and fix it, but I also met someone new (not sure if she would even want me) and wondering if it’s worth fixing it (since we are trying/running/avoiding it for years) - just worried about the kids…any advice

Anyone else a bit annoyed with the announcers right now? I get you disagree with the decision to not start the race, but man there was so much rain out there I can’t blame race control. I think it’s Crofty, not 100% sure, but the comments like “that car should have a driver in it going around the circuit right about now” are a bit much for me. Anyone else feel the same or am I just overreacting?

Where do you find the time to get everything done in the day when you have multiple partners, associates and equity partners that interrupt you and want things turned around immediately while simultaneously working on deadlines? I feel like I’m the only one that can’t manage a 70+ case load without letting someone down. I constantly have to say “Can I do this tomorrow?” Etc. I don’t even have time to bill on the clock.
