doesnt seem real but a case study for which you wanna prepare :p
There have been legit delays for a variety of reasons. But it has been slow between discussions. Trying to move it along without ultimatums.
I don’t have the experience you have but I would say make sure deliverables are always in someone else’s court and not yours. Show a sense of urgency in your deliverables/work, do a recap at the end of the meeting, and go over proposed next steps. You want to keep the ball rolling. Good luck!
I appreciated the positive advice. Thanks
This seems strange
Why?
You say yes when the nice divorced partner invites you to Mykonos
Thanks. That is actually what has kept me going.
Please don't do anymore free work for them.
Sounds like you've shown your knowledge and worth, next time there's a request say "well that's something I would put together within the first 100 days of the starting in the role, how do we expedite that process" or words to that effect. Part of your role as a partner will be ensuring you get paid for work, do the same here. Good luck
Appreciated.
Manager to Partner? What?
High level - partner or non equity partner.
0 chance it leads to a partner role right away. More realistic is AP/Director role with fast timeline if things pan out. Vvvvvvv few partnership decisions are made on one account, one capability etc.
A group of senior partners all have to look at you and say, yeah this person is going to bring on significantly more revenue than they cost us each year over the next 4-5 years, I’m very confident in that.
Go you, go! I’m not saying give up. I’m saying don’t fixate on the partner title. You can lead a service offering without having a partner title. Getting a partner title means you have SOW signing power which is a huge liability for the firm.
Also what freaking advice do you want if you’ve done all that. Call the main decision maker. That’s what being a partner is about. Make it happen kiddo.
Don’t jump in till there’s a business case. I have it done for Deloitte. It was a long and painful journey.
Business case with their managing partner to ensure you will be supported.
Too many haters on here, OP! I hope you get this!!
Thanks my friend. Just wanted a polite way to move this forward without it sounding like an ultimatum. Then boom - some hater saying it will never happen. I don’t think they would spend hours of their leaderships time (with enthusiastic backing this far)if they weren’t serious. Maybe they don’t make me partner and instead pay me a lot of money with a fast track - that would probably be ok.
Make sure you ask how they will help make YOU successful. Not just what they desire. What investment will they make? And how will you be measured? Been there.
Thank you. I’m wondering how to manage the risk of taking on the position. What is the cost benefit analysis here? It’s an immediate raise, and potential huge pay day in the future. How do I negotiate my potential success?
Celonis?
No -
Realistically the firm can’t start a new service line without a partner level leader/owner. It sounds like you are too early in your career for you to be that person. I would not fixate so much on the potential to lead to partner, that is an opportunity at every firm if you do well. To answer your question, figure out who the partner will be and call them.
I’m pretty seasoned - the manager title you see here doesn’t translate well between my current title and the one being discussed.
