Coach
Eventually. But, just know that karma will get them all. The beautiful thing about a career is that it is LONG. One day you're down and being kicked and the next, you're in a position to do the kicking. Dont kick, even if you want to. Remember that. Live your life, treat people well (even on their bad days), and be happy.
Agreed!
Mentor
Never. Always remember what they did to you, and occasionally track their LinkedIn to see where they are. Wait for an opportunity to strike back. It could take years, but it’ll be well worth it when the time comes.
I did this. Recruited the favorite associate to my new firm.
It takes a while, but you’ll be ok. Please seek out a good therapist. They can help you process your anger. Give it time. Show yourself the kindness you need to get through it. Do your very best to live well, and don’t let them live inside your head. The longer they’re there, the harder it will be to get them out.

When you internalize the lessons you learned there and look forward. I lost my dad when I was 6. If I could move forward from that without bitterness you can move on from a job without bitterness. And if that doesn’t seem possible you should speak with a therapist.

You are free to skip any or all of my comments, friend. No harm intended. Harboring bitterness is corrosive and can derail a career. I’m just encouraging OP to move past it and get help if need be.
Pain will leave you when it is done teaching you. Let go of the bitterness and embrace the fact that you are a stronger person. Take what you have learned and treat others the way you want to be treated. Small industry, things will eventually come back around.
It's been almost 2 years and I still genuinely get waves of "what the f was that?" and "why" but it decreased significantly after the first 6 or so months. The first few months I really still felt it, a lot.
Look at it as a lesson learned and move on bigger and better. Hurt and resentment are good on a limited basis, eventually it gets you, though. Good luck in your future endeavors, you are going to be just fine. Truly.
