Sounds like they’re avoiding any kind of paper trail by not responding via email. If I were in your shoes I would email them a summary of the conversation to “ensure your understanding” of whatever was discussed aligns with theirs.
Make sure you are emailing him with the comments made at you desk and ask for confirmation to ensure your understanding was clear.
In the future, when walks over and makes a request, send an email confirming his instructions. It will at least create a paper trail. However it will probably not matter
Agree with above but also you could say could you drop me a email with your request so I can balancs the request against my to do list and priotoise according.
