MHA is not nearly as well recognized or accepted. It adds value, but not enough to justify cost. You also have to have an acceptable health care background. Mine is in behavioral health and never allowed me to crossover to regular healthcare.
I was in the same boat two years. I had to choose between and MHA and EMBA. Ultimately, I choose the EMBA program because of our diverse it was. Also because I had worked in healthcare industry for about 15 years so I knew I could apply it there. As I thoroughly enjoyed my EMBA program and it’s made me so much better at my job.
I recommend getting an MBA. This is coming from someone who received their MHA two years ago. It did help me advance however, I've noticed how an MBA is more preferred and would have given me bigger opportunities.
Thank you for the honest feedback!
