If I am interviewing for BA at McK with 1.5 YOE in consulting, am I being considered for BA1 or BA2? And is the BA role generalist or is there opportunity to specialize in certain types of projects (eg, tech, healthcare, etc.)? McKinsey & Company

BA1

Will there be a higher pay if you come in as BA 1 with experience?

like

No. If you have at least 3 YOE you can push for JA. Else Comp is based on role and tenure. Though if you perform above expectations then you get better comp so that’s something.

Higher base pay, but TC will be dependent on ratings.

like

Yup, end of year based on late fall reviews

BA1 level with BA2 pay.

like

BA1 but pay is higher than most BA2s. The generalist BA role is generalist but you can still specialize and some BAs are aligned to specific industries or functions.

Thank you all!

Idk what office these people are from but my office every BA has the same starting comp. non negotiable. Depending where you are if there is enough work you can specialise. Though they’ll often push generalists to get a broader apprenticeship so good to talk a lot about it with your DGL.

US hires experienced BAs at higher comp. May be different elsewhere

How do you repeatedly turn down work for one partner or effectively avoid working with a particular person within your firm? Assuming hours are met and your standing is strong otherwise. Deciding that next year (ideally before) is my cut off for leaving this job; whether it’s through a new career path, manual labor or just quitting without a backup plan. My mental health deserves better, sticking it out for one more year as I aim to to be vested in my 401K and save up for 6-9month emergencies. I feel insane for leaving consulting especially with only 1-2 YOE but it’s just not worth it anymore.

Question. My younger brother is applying to a Top 5 business school. They contacted him a few days ago to provide his full work history (he had submitted a one pager with only his last two jobs) because they were evaluating his application. Since I am in consulting, he asked me if that was a good sign because he hasn’t received a rejection. I told him that not at all. That it was SOP and it’s been a few days. But I am older and disconnected from the college app world. I figured I’d ask here

Looking for some MBA advice. Went to Indiana U and had mediocre GPA due to mental health struggles. Got medicated and saw a therapist and got a 4.0 my last semester. But still ended with 3.2 gpa. I am a good standardized test taker and am confident I can do well on GRE/GMAT. Given my poor undergrad GPA, am I a non-starter for an M7 MBA? Looking to improve myself as an applicant over the next year or so by seeking out leadership opps within and outside the firm. Any advice is appreciated!

Can someone explain why they buy EFTs over index funds? A couple years ago I switched my 401k from target date to index funds? Does it make sense to eventually switch those to EFTs? If so, what's the strategy on when to switch?

Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I still feel hopeful that God will bless me with the knowledge on how to effectively impact each one of those kids. Let's remember to keep all educators lifted in prayer this year. Have a wonderful school year!! God Bless All❤️

How do I reach more BIPOC designers? Let me start off by saying I identify as Latinx and I am not trying to tokenize anyone or to discriminate against white candidates. I’m looking to add to our design team and I’ve been really trying to add diversity to our company. Anytime we put out the word we’re looking for more senior design roles the majority of candidates are white males. I don’t want to shut talent out, I just want to make sure our opportunities are seen.
