How are you surviving off of $79k in the Baay?
I think the key is to just identify a role you truly like, and go all in. It’s not just about leaving consulting or whatever. Maybe that sounds fluff, but I truly like the company and the specific team too, so going “all in” was just me being confident!
Probably what you're making
Why exit
Don’t exit yet. Consulting years are worth more than the average Joe job years. Get another year under your belt then plan your exit.
Thanks guys. I’m currently doing tech implementation (pmo) yet I’ve been looking to break into strategy since day 1 (like everyone else lol). The offer would be a strategy role within an industry I love. So it makes sense from that aspect.
I'm tech and certified in an in demand tool. Best move I made as I get hit up by recruiters at least once every couple weeks now
Thanks OP, I'm in Strategy at a smaller shop so I'm going to have to wait for a while it seems.
Dude wtf you make 79k in SF? That’s below the poverty line you need a new job
Deloitte analysts are 72.5k right?😂
@AC 1, if OP just joined Big 4 in an entry level role and they’ve only been with the firm for 6 months doing tech implementation stuff, I’d assume they know nothing. It takes a solid few months (hell maybe a year or so), to really know wth you’re doing for tech implementation; understanding the system, getting certified, etc.
@SC1 would you still say it’s a bad move? @BCG, living with friends, Trader Joe’s, and not eating out haha
If there is no room for long term growth at this company or substantial increase in pay, I would hold off
Analyst to Manager seems like 5-6years timeline. I’m assuming 7-10% raise per year. Company is (Sony, Blizzard, Warner Bros, etc)
Well with that in mind, go for it.
What is a typical range to hit Manager at a large firm (6-8)?
Coming in on 3 years in the consulting game and I'm glad I grinded it out. I'm now looking at 130k+ offers in industry but I might stick it out for a fee more years
What’s your role? Tech, strategy, risk, etc
What firm are you at OP?
Big4, ~6 months
