I’m 2 years in as an analyst and I got passed over for the associate promotion (analyst program is usually 2.5 years) so I’m really disappointed even though I’ve consistently ranked quite well. I don’t think it’s a good idea to stay for another year since being an analyst for 3.5 years is a major red flag. Should I look for another job at a different bank or try my chances on the buyside? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

For context, I’m eligible this year as an 8th year, but it’s more common to make it around years 10-11 at my firm (only equity partners), and I’m trying to determine whether to stick around or lateral before I’m too senior.
