I'm a class of 2022 tax associate at a V100 firm. Are there are any big 4 firms that would hire me to work remote? I'm getting my NYU tax llm remotely as well

It is unlikely that they will hire you to work remotely.

If you go mid-tier you could do that for the WNT/M&A groups.

Ey is like 95% remote except for some in office days

helpful

EY depends on the team, when I left last year was 2-3 days in office.

There are a number of law firms that are remote outside of the accounting firms. I’d look at the Midwest and Mountain states for the larger firms looking for tax associates. The pay will still be more than what you would make at the B4. Also, for WNT, most will require you to live in DC for a year or two for training before letting you move to a new location (since your class of 2022). If you were a 5th or 6th year associate, you might have more leeway. Just my experience. Others might disagree.

If you’re in Big 4, I would talk to your PML and start listening to Podcasts and Webcasts for topics presented by partners you want to work with/learn from.

Might be starting at a small agency as a full time Junior AD soon, fingers crossed. The only other roles I’ve had at agencies were freelance and intern before WFH.

Hi Fishes,

I got interviewed at infosys two days back.
When can I expect to hear back from them.
Also all the questions that were asked to me were written coding questions(Write block of code) none were verbal.I could write all answers but none was 100% correct.

At last I asked the interviewer about feedback as in where was I wrong. He said at couple of places and he explained me where was I wrong.

Do you all think I will be rejected?

I recently joined Swiss Re at 30lpa, pretty good manager and work culture. Got a hike of 10% in 3 months without me asking for it. But got an offer from another company which I was interviewing for before joining here and they are offering a base of 45lpa. Now I am unsure how I convey this to my manager coz I want to stay here but at the same time I am salivating over this new offer and wish I get similar numbers here. Is it worth raising a discussion? If yes what would be a subtle way to do so?

Has anyone dealt with stuffing allocation in a non-hedge fund context? It seems even in the HF world the law is fuzzy in using aggregate reverse 704c principles in stuffing allocations. Like, sure, the market is there but no authority really blessed it (other than some Cravath partner’s article in Tax Notes in 2013). If we are talking asset class that isn’t really like marketable securities but might be able to treat it similarly solely by virtue of, say, valuation on a quarterly basis (contd)

Transitioning from com. lit into tax controversy?

I have a tax LLM and started my career out of law school doing M&A tax at a big4. After 9 months, I got out of big4 transactional hell and into whatever litigation I could find. For anyone who practices tax lit in the US Tax Court, what’s your experience with the independent office of appeals?
