Becoming partner is a game of politics and sales. For instance, I have a lot of sales, but don’t kiss ass so my boss tells me to add 2 colleagues at my level to the sales pursuits on Mercury to give them credit. They’re lazy to do any work, but they love to kiss her ass so she lets them sit back and take credit.
So my point is, is it really worth it? Do you see happy partners or just rich partners? Do you have the sales and the politics on your side? Are you willing to play the game which might mean overworking yourself and kissing ass?
Not for me.
Well I am in tax, private equity. I just made sm. I want to be in a position to leave for a global tax director job or make partner here. But I might as well try. I’m terrible at politics, I try to avoid and just do my job
It’s politics, at Deloitte you need to give your value proposition, and present what you add to the firm. This could be sales, technical expertise, DEI, or having a really good relationship with key clients. You also need partners to back you up when you’re up for Partner sod you need to network/kiss ass
They won’t push you out. You’ll either become a tenured SM 3+ until you decide to leave. As a SM1-3, if you are Partner or Managing Director material, they will invite you to Path 1. Where they will help you come up with your value prop. Then selected few will be put in Path 2, the second year where you present to a group of partners for real, as why you should be made PPMD
So you will be staying with AssureCo? No partners in NewCo.
