You will be able to progress MUCH faster in your career at mck than literally anywhere else. Mck has fastest path to manager anywhere- you can do it in 3 years from analyst
If I join as senior analyst in McKinsey what would be the career growth and how much it would take to get promoted to manager?
This is not even a question, seriously
7K is meaningless in the grand scheme of things. McK would add a lot more weight to your resume, you would likely learn more (if management is what you want, probably less useful if you want to be a tech person), and your comp trajectory will be massively different in the next 2-5 years.
In 5 years no one will say “oh damn they went from a senior analyst to an analyst role”, all they will see is McKinsey.

As somebody who also came from Accenture... take it.
Your bonus will make up for any immediate short fall, and your salary and career trajectory are much faster when you’re here too...
You will not ‘lose any career progress’.

You are losing career progression - your salary is lower. Progress is about the opportunity and you’re focused on the $$$. McK is an excellent company that will give you the progression you’re likely looking for

Thanks to everyone. I know it seemed like a silly question and I legit didn’t want to ask haha. I guess I was wondering if I should try to negotiate for higher pay or a SA role at McKinsey but that seems trivial now
To answer some questions. I have 2 YOE and apparently, McKinsey did a recent round of diversity hiring so I got an interview with a referral - I was immediately told it would be for a BA role. MyConsultingOffer helped a lot with my 2 weeks prep (granted, I wasn’t new to cases and I’d previously gotten offers with most firms not named MBB)
How many YOE do you have OP? Also did you apply to an entry level position or experienced? I am applying with 4 YOE and I’m surprised the BA salary is that, I was expecting higher. Either way I completely agree with all comments above and recommend taking it
Interesting. I got an offer from McKinsey with similar YOE to you and they gave me much more. Did you do consulting work at Accenture or something else?

7k is nothing , think of Mck on your resume , its waaaay more than 7k, you are seeing the short sight. Btw congrats on the promo
