Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Looking for an entry level non exempt positions. I've been in and out of both food service and retail for years. I know what I'm worth and I know how strong my work ethic is. I do not enjoy having carrots dangling out of reach, preventing me from furthering my career. Seems all this 20 something year olds are getting what I feel I do deserve (no ego). I left practice 12 years ago. I became the Director of International Programs at a law school, which was great for a while. But, the bureaucracy eventually got to me. While there, I started a podcast called The Lawyer’s Escape Pod, interviewing lawyers who’d switched careers. And that put me on my new path. I now coach lawyers who want to ditch the traditional work world and start creative or coaching businesses. Never been happier.

Have an opportunity to finally get out of insurance defense. But not really sold on the firm. Could finally get out of ID, but then could also end up at another place I really don't like. Def want my next firm to be long term as I've jumped around.

Interested in UX but have no experience or much knowledge about it. What kind of roles were you in before you got into UX, how did you get there, did you have to get a certification, and what does your day to day work consist of? Is it more technical, psychological or design based?

As an experienced, SHRM certified HRBP , I would just like some feedback on your opinion of the differences in the roles between an HRBP an HR Manager besides the obvious that the manager should have direct reports. I am an HRBP and work in step with 3 HRM’s. They all 3 just got out of cycle raises of between 5-20% 😳 and I received nothing. I am quite aware of our HR code that salary is confidential but I was told about this. Would you be looking for other employment? Or stay?

Do you think culinary school is worth it? I've been a waiter for a year but really want to be a chef. The people I work with say to just start in the kitchen and work my way up but I think culinary school might get me where I want to be faster. The cost is pretty insane though. Any advice?
