Moving to all-commission can be a big leap. It’s exciting for the earning potential but can be nerve-wracking without that steady paycheck. In my experience, it’s worth it if you’re confident in your sales skills and enjoy the challenge.. also if you have some savings and you're not panicked about finances
Beware of "unlimited income" opportunities.
Certain industries promise the world but reality usually turns out to be a dead end. (Home improvement has notoriously high turn over)
I don't know what industry you're considering but straight commission is an opportunity to get paid what you feel you're worth based on effort and developed sales skills. Best to have 6 months to a year living expenses banked before getting into straight commission. Especially if you're new to the industry that you are considering.
I would not do it.
You will already know the answer to this based on what you’re earning. So the question is as simple as do you believe in yourself. I’d go for it !
If you can sell and the product is good Comission based position is fantastic. See if they will offer a salary and reduced Comission until you get comfortable. Usually a good company will understand and make concessions. if they will not budge, I would consider not taking the risk.
100% commission jobs can be either beneficial and amazing, or totally inconvenient. I would always support having that base pay plus the commissions, unless you are one of those people who wake up happy, early and positive every single day. You have complete control over your mindset, leave it at the door mentality,....
You want to show the company that you will be there before everybody and stay until the last one to leave.... Jordan/ Kobe concept.
You get what you put into it....... That's sales, especially 100%commission-based roles. A lot of these exterior home remodeling companies say you can make anywhere from 40k - 300k. Truth is if you're making $40 to 60 grand there they don't want you. You're not selling enough, And you won't be happy either getting told no 50 times a week.
And the people who are making 300k put absolutely every single thing they have into it. Complete life and relationship sacrifice. You absolutely will not have a social life..... You need to have a clear and obtainable goal, and you are on a mission to achieve that goal every single second of your life. . It's not a lifestyle for everybody. And if you can't be 110% in, don't do it.... Good luck
