Anytime NO to PDM.It’s not for anyone with ambitions about their career.Job security is zero in PDM , because employment is tied with the project.PDM gets hired for specific projects and not for generic requirements at Deloitte. If the project ends or some unlikely event happens to the SOW , the job is in jeopardy. If you’re not redeployed to another project the last day on the project will be the last day in Deloitte.Redeployment is Herculean task and nobody bothers to help.Adding to that , PDM is unfairly treated with lesser pay, benefits , less PTO, less maternity/paternity leaves, no training reimbursement, no career development programs, no travel, more utilization , less chances for progression…and many more.. Definitely not worth for jumping from IBM.
Excellent response. And precisely the reasons D2 listed above are why I rejected my PDM offer. I am just grateful I was able to leverage the offer to bump my comp at Booz.
I’d keep looking for better opportunities. Bench float time is less than 3 weeks or you are out.
Getting out of PDM is very difficult.

Not sure why anyone would do PDM considering all the downsides. Do they pay more?
Look, the minute you're on the bench, you have maybe 1 month before you're dropped, if not less.
Take it to stop the bleed but look for stable full time work that doesn't rely on utilization.
I rejected a PDM offer at Deloitte when BAH matched the offer. The benefits were not great in PDM. It seemed like a second class status of employment. I didn’t like how the insurance was more expensive and not as good.
There is a PDM bowl in this app. There is also a lot on Reddit about Deloitte PDM.
I can confirm this. Same.
Deloitte PDM makes sense if you have a specific purpose and time box your stay
It’s a lower tier talent model with limited benefits, respect, and regard
In the end, you still have Deloitte on your résumé, and you can use that to SpringBoard to something else
PDM is good for people who just want to do project delivery work and nothing else. I have had some very capable people in PDM. I have also had some people convert from core to PDM since they did not want to do extra work, firm initiatives, sales, business development etc.
OP - I would suggest two things -
1 . If this is the only offer you have and it’s a long term project (GPS easily has 3-5 year long projects and they keep extending).
2. If it’s not a long term project, see if they can offer you USDC-Delivery which is a position in your local city so you don’t have to move but more bench time allowed than PDM.
USDC gets paid even less than PDM

PDM can have years of job security especially in GPS. Clients will often sign on for 3 years and you will work on that for a while. But it’s not great for switching to core, and you get only a few weeks bench time.
Hardly any
Took them 9 months to hire me. But the economy wasn’t what it is now. Stick with it and keep looking. Even if you find something still check back because you never know what the offer and opportunity will be in comparison to what you already found. Good luck

How’s the pay? You can always boomerang.
Why not take the offer in hand and keep applying for other jobs?
If it is your only option and you’re laid off… I guess you should take it. But I would be vocal that you want to go Core/Traditional. And perhaps use the Deloitte name to get other offers elsewhere?
I mean PDM is better than unemployment… but I doubt you will want to stay PDM.
PDM should be your last resort it’s definitely a second class citizen in the firm horrible benefits and pay with the same crazy expectations.
