I'm going to drop $15000 down on a $550000 house - for a 30 year mortgage. I expect a mortgage of around $3000 at my anticipated interest of 4%

I'm going to pay extra on the mortgage so I can get it paid off in 15 years.

Does this sound crazy / unrealistic?

Conventional loan programs have 3% down options for first time home buyers … if they have a certain credit profile

First of all congratulations! 2 questions. 1) Even with a 750 credit score, how is it possible to get a 4% interest in the current market? 2) $3000 mortgage payment is only the principal + interest and the escrow is extra , correct ?

Yea, I would be finding out how much cash you need to close via the loan estimate worksheet. That should give you a rough idea as to how much you (or the builder/lender) are spending to buy down the rate to 4%. There is no such thing as FREE MONEY!

On the East and west coasts, $550 is a standard 3-4 bedroom house. Single or multi depending on the area you live in as well.

I have a couple of questions. I'm currently buying my first home and have learned A LOT over the last 1.5 years while preparing to buy. Are you going FHA? What are your seller credits? Are you buying down points?? Im just trying to understand where your figures are coming from.

Couple questions - does this include PMI, insurance and property taxes? You should have it escrowed all in one payment. How are you getting such a low interest rate?

Need some suggestions: My current company is on a layoff spree and 2 rounds are already done and I can foresee another round coming very soon.

While I am trying to switch to other companies, I’m not able to reveal the real reason from my side for the job change, as if I say, it’s because of layoff fears than it’ll reduce my negotiation power.

We are renovating a condo and the previous owner had two Crane toilets (not sure how old, but functioning although seals are old according to our contractor). Back outlet flour mount ones are the only options for the building, and one toilet can cost $300-$500.

We are redoing all the bathroom tiles and walls and debating what we should do with the two toilets. Would resealing the toilets extend the use life? Or should we just replace the toilets? Any other recommendations? TIA!!
