I would take the job and plan to stay there 2 years. Save up money and then start interviewing for a remote job.
Agreed
Pretend it’s 2019
I would take the job, use the extra money to pay for childcare when needed and almost immediately hunt for another job which has similar/more pay but WFH. Usually more salary means more responsibilities which then means you’ll be more qualified for better jobs later on.
That way, you get the money you need to survive but still keep your options open

I would look for a remote, unless money is really good and commute isn’t bad (and negotiate remote after 5pm or in emergencies). You can always make more money, but having them little goes by super quick and being there is priceless. But that’s just my opinion!

What are your reasons to WFH? Are they more important than the extra money?
Once you get an offer, I would ask if they have work from home accommodations for emergencies if that’s you’re main concern. You can always negotiate your work computer being a laptop & a parent friendly policy if you’re not opposed to being in office except for when your kids come home early. For doubling your income, the in-person sounds worth it.
Also if your salary is doubled, would you be able to comfortably afford a babysitter to pick up your kids for those sick/closure days? Some offices offer Care.com discounts to employees depending on how big the company is
