I'm looking to get back into the IT world, and attempting to get a job as a SOC Analyst, or a job that can get me on the path to becoming a SOC analyst. Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you.

You don't need to put high school diploma. Look at the Wharton Consulting resume template.

like

If possible, shorten your resume to two pages, or even one if you can, and remove the high school diploma since it’s often unnecessary. Use a more specific job title to better align with the roles you’re targeting. Tailoring your resume to each job, rather than relying on a single version, is key to standing out. Tools like Jobsolv can help streamline this process and make it easier to create strong, targeted applications.

You got a good amount of certificates & experience, from what I see you didn't mention how this experience translates to money or achievements for the companies rather than doing the technical things, think you lead the IT department & drive value for the company, why would you do these things? Rephrase the past experience & any additional that you didn't have the chance to use into points that delivers value, it's fine to use ChatGPT as long as you verify the details & confirm that you can do what will be in the resume, best of luck!

Also, checkout SimplyCyber courses online, they have a course about Slef Marketing & the GRC Master Class, these will help you to market yourself as a contractor instead of full time employee, also a profile on TryHackMe with an active record would be great, good luck!

like

Mention the top level completed courses / learning paths under the Learning & Certificates sectionin the resume, also add a section for online profiles like LinkedIn, TryHackMe & any others interesting personal projects, if you read / listen to any Cyber security outlets would be good to mention

Hi! I have 9yoe in startup, hyper growth environments. I have a strong customer Quality Assurance process improvement background. I want to shift into becoming more of an IC vs people manager. So lately I’ve been using the interns to get the engagement and work papers set up so I can go in and do the return. I don’t think it’s fair for their growth. I’ve seen managers do it so I’m taking part in it. But what do you think? It does help make me more energy but I can stop doing this too.

After you are stealth laid off, other than job search, what do you do? I assume they won’t give you work and even if they do, you can politely decline? Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm doing patent work. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

Subject matter expert with my CPA. I’m completely fed up with the compliance aspect of public accounting Tax but don’t mind the technical side. Does it make sense to become an attorney to get out of compliance work and still do something related to specialty tax?

Let’s say I want to get into pentesting and CEH - where would you advise starting if my experience is minimal? I know my way around things but not much scripting or too heavy network experience. Downloaded Kali on a VM to get some tools, but let’s say you could advise me of a training course/package to start with - what would it be, and from where? My current job is going to let us pick something, and while my answer would be to go to DEFCON 😂 that’s obviously not gonna happen this year.

Any consulting -> Tech sales people out there? Curious how consulting experience is perceived both from a compensation and placement standpoint in the tech world…? What should my expectation be? For context — I SDR’d as a senior in college and was promoted to AE right as I took a BA offer from McKinsey. Wanted to get broad exposure & become a more analytical problem solver… dont regret my decision at all but really loved sales and would like to get back around my 2-3 yr mark.
