Career wise - what would be best? A change management role at Crowe working government software upgrades Or Change Management role at a name brand childcare company? The culture fit at childcare company is amazing.. remote, unlimited PTO Crowe , I'm not sure since it's working with government.

First few weeks I would meet with as many people as possible. Interview them, ask them what change management means to them, take notes, and bucket the key pain points you can look to assist with as you become ingrained in different areas of the business. Depending on your focus I would try and gauge the landscape whether the focus is on enterprise change management or project change. I would keep in mind if you have certification and are coming in hoping to apply a ton of models you may be met with resistance. I find applying these models right away doesn’t go over as well and it’s better to apply the models and methodologies at first for my own expertise and vetting and to ease others into the usage and consideration of these models. Only caveat is if you were brought in to establish these change management methodologies to the space/company. Remember to teach the strategies and thought process through example, remain as unbiased as possible and always consider all impacted partners. If you didn’t get certified I highly suggest Prosci and to keep up to date on their blogs as I find they have great key points to keep in mind when it comes to change especially in a technology world! Hope that helps!
This is exactly the right advice ! Particularly about expecting to implement your models immediately. Alot of companies either just want to rush changes through, or pay lip service only so you have to influence your way to achieving a good outcome.
All good points, from a person who has done this a few times, I would understand the key decision makers, your goals and objectives for the year, align with the org goals and create a scorecard for the org, change mgt maturity for leaders and get alignment from all of the voices that matter.
CM is this sector could move a bit slower so you’ll need to have a keen focus on outcomes.
You’ll also want to find and post mortems on previous projects and understand the ens and flows of the org. Please under how they make money and who actually runs the ship. Need as many allies as possible because people don’t understand CM and will cut it as soon as things get rough.
Good luck 🍀
Thank you both. This has been incredibly insightful into the broad approach and considerations I need to take moving into the industry!
Hire me. I’m about to get cut during layoffs. 4 YOE. 😃
I’ve been there twice. Happy to move to the land of OZ. Even Perth if need be. But I prefer the Gold Coast.
What’s the pay like? That’s the one thing keeping me in consulting.
Career suicide. I’m assuming you’re one of the lower performers at pwc
