I say go for it! No after school duties, or unruly kids. Doing what you love for kids that love it too!
Same pay(?), fewer hours, no after-school duties, kids who select the class and want to be there… what’s the problem?
You have to weigh your options. I left for higher ed as well. It included a pay cut, but…
You get to eat a lunch, use the bathroom when you need to, and I can take breaks for walks with coworkers throughout the day.
My overall mental health has increased significantly.
I do invest with a private financial advisor, (they do offer a 401k/roth investment option - but it was not as strong as public schools) but health insurance is compatible.
There is flexibility when I have appointments to attend (I can come in early/stay later to cover the hour my appointment takes). I don’t have to worry about administrators getting upset they can’t find coverage or teacher that get stressed out because we need to combine classes.
Everyone needs to do what is best for themselves. Good luck with your decision. I am SO happy with mine, and I wish I would have done it sooner.

OMG! That sounds awesome. Yes, go for it! How would that affect your retirement pension though? How did you find such a great opportunity?

No benefits. No pension. No tenure.
Go for it! Good luck!!!
That sounds like a win-win
My thoughts of late, mirrors what you’re currently doing!…sounds like a great idea!
It sounds like you found an excellent opportunity. Good luck!
I think you might be making some assumptions about the fact that all your students want to be there.
How would it impact retirement and benefits?
To echo what others have said, weigh the benefits in retirement/pension question. However, it sounds like a wonderful opportunity.
Is there any benefit for family? For example, there is a local private college near my home that I’ve been itching to get into because faculty children get to go there for free.
