I switched. Knowledge of prosecution is helpful and the technical background you likely have can also be very useful if you find the right group. And litigation is more lucrative, so you're more likely to make market (or closer to market). Because a lot of people starting out in patent lit don't know patents very well, you are more likely to get assignments that require more patent specific knowledge, if you like that sort of thing.
I'm sure you have heard this, but a lot of prosecution is done at flat/fixed rates. This means the margins the more senior you get are slimmer and slimmer. While you'll be doing more sophisticated work (portfolio management as an example), my understanding is you'll still have a bit of a ceiling on your compensation. So litigation has more potential upside for compensation. I also enjoyed litigation more than prosecution, but the hours are rougher.
This is me I'm moving pending conflicts. I know 4 other associates irl right now at various firms doing the same right now. The schedule will be more unpredictable but should be more fun, imo
Litigation can be boring, especially for entry level
