Take the job. Having a less-than-dreamy first job is better than job-hunting while homeless.
I got you. I plan to keep doing spec to build out the book in the mean time. If I got the great offer fresh into this one, I’d take it but I’m afraid of burning a bridge. Plus, the work at this place is very prescriptive, so I don’t think I’d ever get anything for the book from it.
I’d take it. And if an agency asks you in the future why you did, be honest. It was the pandemic and you needed a job. No one can fault you for that... Congrats on the opportunity btw.
That won’t happen. I’ll be doing side projects the whole time and taking freelance where I can. Can’t rely on any of its work to help me get into a good shop. Really hoping I’m not there long. Been seeing things pick on the job market so hoping a good opportunity comes my way soon.
My main worry is I’ve been out of ad school for a year now and only had valuable experience for 4-5 months of it, and that it could get me stuck in a jr role for quite a while.
If they make good work, go for it.
They don’t. I worked under them in a hybrid role in a prior position (was contracted through an outside ad agency and worked part in house for the client). Kind of weird but I already see how they work. It’s all B2B and can get very technical.
I’d be more picky but with Covid still in play, I have a hard time trusting I can find a good job soon. I finished school a week before lockdown and it took me over 6 months just get something with full time hours. Afraid of it taking that long again.
