Interested to hear how people learn project management. I have done PRINCE2 exam and read PMP materials, but I find these are too textbook theory based. Real life projects seem to be very different and a lot more complicated. I often do not know what needs to be done unless someone tells me. I believe you can learn these things on the job, but I am keen to expedite this with some books or courses. Are there any resources that are particularly helpful?
Hi. I’m an incoming masters in business analytics student at MIT and am looking for summer 2022 internships as an analyst in a tech company. I have worked as an engineering analyst for about a year. Applying for a manager role in advisory at Grant Thornton in a HCOL, 10 YOE. What should total comp look like? Additionally, does Grant Thornton offer relocation bonuses? And if so, how much?

Any advice on skills that can help you become a better candidate than other applicants? I work in Operations and would like to get to the sales/client side of finance.
You are supposed to Sr Resource for the client, this client director in the meeting assigns you some crappy chores like creating ppt, reviewing some shitty record which could have been done by an

What are some good questions to ask in a screener interview for in-house positions? Are salary/benefits questions appropriate at this stage?
A Deloitte AM&C (Advertising, Marketing & Commerce) recruiter reached out to me today to schedule an interview. Can someone provide some insight to the Team and Deloitte’s culture?
I’m five years into this game and I still get panicky before client calls... All calls, really. How do I get over this?
You know you're at the client site too late when none of the on-premise PokeStops have the Lure module on them anymore.
How do any of you write an effective resume, when we have to keep mum on project details / results?
Currently on a project that has nothing to do with me. I understand developing a new skill set but I have no past experience that aligns with the scope and deliverables of the project. I've spoken with the PM and they say I'm still the best fit. I think it's just due to the firm being understaffed. Time to talk to my direct to get off that project? Thoughts?
Person asked me yesterday to give times to schedule an interview Thursday/Friday and has not gotten back to me. I’m on PTO Thursday and Friday, would it be rude to email them back to say “hey I’m on PTO just following up so I can plan my day around this interview”?
Very low since I recently got rolled off a project and been on bench for a bit. I don’t know if should start looking for other jobs.. Any words of wisdom for folks who went through a tough patch?
*at the client 1 day after filing, before archiving* literally, every client ee at the water cooler: “SHOULDN’T YOU BE GONE????”
I got pulled off my project that was going really well and I was enjoying and am getting swapped with another analyst who apparently is messing up a lot and super behind on her project. It’s nice that I’m being trusted to get things back on track but also how fair is it that she’s inheriting my well organized project that I worked really hard on and I’m inheriting her disorganized mess. Does this happen often in consulting?
Story of my consulting life -> client: "you didn't do what I asked." Me: "hmm I believe we did, let me double check." Client: "well I don't see it." *checks clients computer, has wrong version open*
I'm interviewing with S& Deals, but I've never actually done a structured case interview. 🤣 Where do I go to learn?
How did those with kids agree on baby names. The name my wife wants for our child is my best friends ex girlfriends name (bad breakup about 2 years ago). I can't see the name without thinking of this horrible person bc it's not that common of a name. Am I unreasonable for veto'ing this name?
In the process of interviewing for S1 in audit with Deloitte, when I’m asked about expected comp, what should I aim for? I am in NYC. Thank you.
Traveling to California for 10 days to evaluate if it’s a good state to move to. Exploring SFO, San Diego and surrounding areas. What are some things I should not miss in terms of sightseeing and what are the things this group recommends observing when I’m there to see if it’s a good fit for me? I’m from the East Coast.
How is PTO valued? (Salary / 365) x PTO days? Or, (Salary / 2080) x PTO hours. My question is whether or not to factor in weekends. Deloitte

What is the WLB for a solution delivery specialist at McKinsey & Company? Also salary expectations? Thank you!
Transferred to BAH from BCG to take a 20% bump and the opportunity to work in the federal space. Initial thoughts - disorganized orientation, decent culture. However, got placed on the bench 😑
Have had a pretty okay family relationship growing up. Recently a parent saw some health issues and I’m feeling pretty guilty for picking an office that’s been quite far from them, which I picked so that I could “experience life” some more. Feeling selfish
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
I know this probably not the best bowl but I’m curious to hear about potential gift ideas for my wife’s upcoming birthday? She’s currently 7 months pregnant and since we’re all still WFH it is what’s making this more challenging given the usual choices of excursions / shoes / clothes etc not really good options.

Anyone work in one of the tax technology groups? I’m currently in SALT, but have some significant technology experience from some prior roles that I think could make me a decent fit for something like this. How is the WLB, pace of work, etc.? Im also curious how the exit opportunities look?
Anyone have any insight into what it’s like working at Stripe (WLB, culture, growth opportunities, etc.)?
Lot of negatives from Covid. Am curious to poll this crowd on what we think the long term positives will be, both for consultants and society at large. Let’s generate some positive vibes.
Has anyone has experience with a firm's outplacement services? At MBB maybe? Worth it or not? Thanks!
