10 years ago a big videogame company reached out to me trying to recruit me to be the director of marketing for one of their big franchises because of some of the brands I’d worked on in my LinkedIn. It sounded so exciting and would have meant moving to a city I like… I probably could have gotten the job but it was way more senior than my experience so it scared me off. In retrospect I probably would have done a good job at it and just had imposter syndrome. It sounds like you were already doing the stuff before in an acting capacity, not much difference! You will kick ass! The alternative is that you turned it down and would be regretful like me!

If this is in America, move on. That's the norm here.

I get it, you probably feel like you're being set up to fail. Instinct for an honest person is to come clean because it may relieve the tension and pressure you feel. If you're able to keep up with your work though and have gotten no complaints, I may not mention it. It might make others give you extra scrutiny and catch things they would have not noticed before. Worst case they might look for ways to get rid of you. Best case...? Doesn't seem in your favor to tell them. Just focus on kicking ass and doing a great job, and then maybe a year in over drinks and a laugh you mention it in passing.

Rock with it and embrace the energy, why would you throw your own self under the bus 😂

Honestly, it doesn’t matter in some cases how much experience you have. If you did what you said you did, then they believe in you and you can meet their expectations. Some of the best people I’ve worked with had less experience than me.

For anyone wondering, I said absolutely nothing about it and i just received an award from the partner! 🥳

Love it. Kudos!!!

Don’t most folks do that?

Yes, but I’m not sure how they missed the part where I was only one year and a few months in 😬 😅
