Any layoff expected in bny ?
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

A higher mission? We are the butt of consumerism.
There’s a reason why W+K does they best work. They have a set of beliefs, and they stick to them.
Wr should be jealous of them whenever our offices pitch projects to keep lights on.
How about a mission to reduce the hours we put in?
It’s time family and health came before fucking banners.
Elon Musk is driven to save humanity, and he's fine bankrupting himself in that pursuit. To mention the ad industry in the same breath is to not understand what Elon is about. There is no comparable purpose for our industry, and our purpose can't rise above "serve the clients."
☝🏽. Bingo. If you are a founder, nobody cares about your business as much as you do. Not even those you bring on as partners. You might get lucky, but not likely. People work for money. If you can do some good while your at it, great. But don’t spoon out the BS of mission. It’s about profit and sustainability of the business above all else, ALWAYS. What we all hope is that morals, principals and beliefs come before that; it happens and it’s awesome but it’s the exception more than the rule.
The real higher mission behind the ‘higher mission’ work is usually to boost the egos, award vaults and future paychecks of the ECDs.
At least in my experience.
And MDs /GADs for those of us on the relationship side.
I think the biggest issue is, as an owner/CEO, thinking that every one of your employees thinks they’re on a mission just like you.
