Do you all have life insurance?
If you do, which one? I was recently gathering information about term life insurance policy and if there are policies out there which would return the premium at the end of the maturity term? Checked with policy genius.com and they didn't have any such add on available.. Any insights?
Ugh I left out some words hopefully the above still makes sense… but here is some more detail: I’ve been beyond burnt out at the same agency for a decade, things have gotten better but I can’t let go of my disdain for the toxic (and worse) things that happened here when I first started. My life is in shambles I have nothing going for me outside of work, my anxiety and depression are at an all time high and my struggles with agoraphobia have returned. Everything feels impossible at the moment so I don’t even believe I’d be able to find another job so idk why I’m even asking this tbh.
I don’t have my book together, I don’t have a website, I don’t feel like I’d even be able to lie through my teeth at an interview pretending like I’m excited about the work when I haven’t been for years… I honestly don’t want to stay in advertising but I don’t know if there is anywhere else for me.
Sorry you are feeling like this. Been there, burn out is real. 10 years is a long time in the same place these days too. If you don't have a therapist already get one, then look into getting medical leave started. A therapist could help you with that. You also must have decent vacation time accrued - maybe start with a long 2 week trip to some sort of wellbeing resort that can help you process and think clearly.
Afterwards, if you have enough money put aside for several months you can just quit and focus on updating your book/creating your site and researching what you really want to do. Cutting the cord could be really therapeutic and empowering.
I wouldn't worry about what it looks like to them. Who cares. Take care of yourself. If a medical leave is needed and you end up deciding to leave after, that is your right. You have been there a long f-ing time, make the most out of those benefits to help your mental health! Best of luck.
Who cares? They don't know you're wanting to leave, just don't even think or hint it. Plan for PTO and medical leave if you can wrangle it.
