I know a few people who have lateraled to my Big 4 firm from Constangy. I don’t think it’s hard to lateral from there - I know my firm has some overlapping clients.
Idk about California, but in my area (Deep South) they are reputable and good to work with.
They are indeed considered a tier below the Big 4, but I personally know of 2 folks who lateralled from there to the Big 4, and 1 who lateralled to BigLaw.
I am also good friends with a partner there who has had opportunities to lateral out to larger firms and turned it down to stay at Constangy.
Again, these are all folks in the South, and idk about other regions.
I think it’s office dependent but three partners at my firm (Big 4) came from there. The local office has gone downhill in the last 10 years or so but it’s Ts definitely possible.
