The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?

I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

I’m in strategy & analytics at deloitte. To be honest there’s not a lot of “strategy analytics” work to be done, where you are doing analytics to support a strategy team. Most of that work is done by the strategy consultants themselves
Most of the work is strategizing how a company can use their data to make decisions. An end to end project looks like this
Discovery (understand the clients data needs and data availability)
Strategy (how can we use this data to achieve those needs)
Pipeline (build the ETL process to get the data where it needs to be)
Analysis (build the model that performs the analysis)
front end (build the application the company will use)
Delivery
You may be involved with one of these phases or all of them. Might just be doing PMO for it.
An example of a project I worked on in the past was our client hired us to help them quantify their performance reviews process and delivery. We did surveys with management and employees to identify what was needed to be conveyed through data, worked through how we could achieve that, then worked with developers to build the portal for them to use. This project was US and India staffed, across several different delivery models (core consultants for client facing work, delivery center for pipeline building, and product delivery model for building the final product)
It’s very very different than FDD, as in FDD you are doing the same basic procedures over and over again. In strategy analytics the problems change every engagement.
