When is it best to leave consulting? Here's how I think about it.
First, are you enjoying it? If so, why leave (it can be a great life long career)?
Second, are you still learning fast? If not, you're missing out.
Last, what skills do most employers value? In my experience, this dictates 2 optimal jumping off points:
(a) 2-3 years in. Consulting "tool kit" is solid
(b) ~1-2 year into Manager. Employers value experience managing people.

Typical Amazon. Always lowballing one level. Stick to your guns if you can.

Thanks. Everyone is dealing with atrocious attrition rates in consulting. So not surprised AWS has a similar problem.
Is the comp same?

Highly doubt comp is the. There's a pretty big gap between L6 and L7. But yes, I've heard this happening with Amazon.
Not unusual. At L7, you will be expected to managed 10-15 IC (unless you are SME on a topic)
How many YOE do you have? The L7 I I work with have, most of them have 15 yoe
Edit: just saw your message about yoe. It's hard to uplevel after they downlevel you. If you are not comfortable with L6, then dont take jt
Thank you everyone. Will try to negotiate a higher offer but role seems good so will stick to L6.
