Interviewing for a role with Amazon (salary). For such a big company, it seems like their benefits aren’t that amazing. 401k match comes out to like 2%. Anyone with experience there able to chime in on if it’s a great place to work?

No one I’ve ever talked to said it’s a great place to work.

likefunny

Everyone I know that has worked that hated it and experienced extreme burnout across numerous different teams.

It’s a place you go to for the experience. It will open doors down the road for larger roles that actually pay market. If you’re younger without a family, then I would recommend going to grind it out for 2-3 years. If you are a mid level (or older) professional, I recommend staying put (unless you need the job).

Source: former client of mine, and saw massive turnover in the tax department.

I agree. But the equity compensation that accrues, it wasn’t uncommon when the stock was going haywire to see managers making $300k (all in). When the stock was languishing, they actually had to go back and change their base comp structure.

I’ve heard nothing but bad things from the people I’ve talked to who worked there.

Salary check. I am currently an in house attorney. 12 YOE. Large company with great coworkers doing regulatory work for the insurance industry. Good work life balance. I live in a high COL city. Out of curiosity and to test the market, I interviewed at a FAANG. Did not get the job, but found out TC was 350k, significantly higher than my TC 230k. I thought I was compensated fairly, but would love to see your thoughts.

Hi everyone! First time posting here. I am in a good sales role at my current company but it’s my first solid AE role in the tech industry. I am interested in exploring other opportunities as I know there are a lot out there, but is anyone else worried about the current economic state? I’m worried that if I find a new position for a new company and the economy going to sh** that I am worried about job security. Anyone else feel this way?

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

I have 2.5 years of experience as a BI consultant primarily working with SQL and Power BI. I feel a little underpaid while currently making $75k. All of my performance reviews have been positive and I have been the lead/only BI developer on two of our largest and most public projects this year. Any thoughts on what I could ask for at end of year reviews for a salary increase?

Considering leaving to take a partner position at a small firm. Is it worth it? Would only be 2 partners with a staff of 10. Comp would be 250k on the low end and probably top out around 350k. Would take 3-4 years to get to this level of comp as would be buying 10% per year up to 40% of the firm. Am I stupid for not taking this? Currently manager making 125k. Comp first year as junior partner would be 120k with 10% ownership.
