Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? A friend and spouse recently purchased a home twice the price of ours and took additional amount of loan on top "for paying off other debt." They make less than half what we make and owe three times as much in other stuff (car loans, cc, irs, etc). I'd be so stressed and likely wouldn't have taken such a loan (5.8%) for an even smaller home than ours. Just thinking about it stresses me out tbh.
