Making himself at home in my home office!

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I use the Fully Jarvis desk and I love it
Don’t get if you won’t stand. I got one and it’s been worth it for sure. It’s hard to concentrate on work for me when standing though
I bought the autonomous smart desk and their chair. I am really happy with the purchase. While I don’t stand as much as I want to, mainly bc I forget about it when I am busy, I like having the option, and I probably just need to make it more of a habit. For the value vs price, I would do autonomous again if I had to do it all over (I bought it on Black Friday last year). The chair is more ergonomic then my previous chair too, which has helped me.
Just moved. Was looking at an autonomous for my new home office - probably going to do it. Back when I had a long term office reservation I had a standing desk - but ended up no using it that often - just felt weird to be in a row of desk and be the one standing person
Just got one a month ago. Use it everyday. Love it, stand way more than I thought I would

I have an uplift desk. I love it and wish I would’ve bought it sooner. I would definitely recommend getting one that allows you to program settings so you can quickly switch between your preferred standing and sitting heights. I find I need to sit to do really detail-oriented, focusing tasks, but love standing for meetings, sending emails, easy reviews, etc. Being able to quickly switch means I don’t accidentally end up sitting all day when I change tasks.
I listened in on a wellness session we had for interns a couple months ago, and one of the things they said is that sitting all day is as bad for you as smoking. I have no idea by what metrics they’re measuring that, but I definitely believe it’s not good for you and anything you can do to get more movement in your day can only help.

I got the 48x30 because I live in a small apartment. I’d love a bigger desk though, I think 80 would be a great size.
I bought a stand up desk and don’t use it at all. Thought I would but just end up not using it.
I switch from standing to sitting every couple hours. It’s done wonders for my back. Got auto stand one from Amazon for $250
Thanks for sharing your experiences everyone. Very helpful.
