For 90% of people, the answer is no. I think the only time it had any sort of lead over the CSR was during that short period when the business platinum had the 50% points rebate when paying with points for flights
From a flexibility perspective, for me it's where you can tranfer your points and the flexibility of the travel credit.
Transfer partners are where you're going to get the most value from points with either of these programs. Chase has super easy to use, valuable partners like Hyatt, United, and Southwest; Amex mostly has smaller/international airlines which makes it more of a pain in the ass to redeem. The only "easy" transfer partner worth anything is Delta, whose miles are called Skypesos for a reason - the transfer rates for any of the other "easy" partners (e.g., starwood, hilton) are at such crappy rates that you get little value out of them.
From a travel credit perspective, my CSR travel credit is applied automativally against pretty much anything - hotels, flights, Uber, etc. Amex's travel credit is much more limited and not so useful in my opinion
It has always been better. 💳
A1 It does but you do have to be flying delta to get into the lounge
Depends on how much much you value and would use lounge access...centurion lounges offer a far superior experience to any other US lounges, but the earning and flexibility (don't undervalue flexibility, it's super important) of the CSR is much better.
I have the Amex plat as am in a Delta hub. Use the lounge every morning to take a private toilet break, and every Thursday home for snackies and drinks. It’s 100% worth it for me. Plus, it looks boss AF.
Upgraded my corporate card to platinum and have the CSR as my personal card. Win-win
Why?
Why not?
Does it still have access to Delta lounges? If you’re in a Delta city that would be a big deal
Im based out of sfo with has a centurion lounge and considering getting the amex plat over csr. Thoughts?
Can you elaborate on flexibility? It seems like the redemption airlines on amex plat are better/more variety.
