Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?

Signing up for writing classes helps with structure and support for me. You can do them via Zoom and take one that meets on Sundays, and do your writing during the week/Saturdays (for example). Homework is usually designed to be manageable for folks with full time jobs.
The challenge is finding the right class and teacher, but theoretically you could take a Zoom class from anywhere in the world.
Re money—there are ways to monetize your work, but first I think it’s best to focus on your craft for a few years with no commercial pressure.
I am keen on this too but I think it’s difficult to find as all the jobs I looked at required min 4 days. I think it needs to be more like 3 days to allow for a proper side quest.
Nothing for a bit is a good plan! There’s quite a lot of legal publishing roles available where I live. I’m planning on nothing for a bit too then I want to focus on some creative hobbies I enjoy (pottery, sewing and art) and do a degree course in something mind related (as yet undecided which route to pursue in this regard). It is exciting deciding afresh what I want to do with more insight into what I actually like/want.
Has anyone successfully made the transition from a lawyer for over a decade to a teacher?
A partner in my team did! Seems to be going well so far.
