I plan on working another 10 years or so maybe less once the kids graduate college. I am this will be out in 2024. What should I be doing or thinking about?

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. I have some collections on my credit report. One from an electric company for $800 (imo they violated terms of contract and sent me to collections in spite of their fuck up), and an apartment for $80~ that charged me a cleaning fee when my apartment was spotless.

Despite these two collections have a 712-720 credit score.

So mortgage lenders care at all about the collections or is it mostly the credit score that matters?

What happens to the funds you're invested in if you roll an old employer's 401k into your current employer's 401k? Is your current 401k custodian able to continue keeping those funds invested even if they don't offer the funds themselves?

VOO. I predominantly use Schwab’s robo advisor and have consistently been 8% below S&P 500. (1) based on the historical performance of VOO, am I better off shifting all of my retirement and brokerage accounts to VOO? (2) how do I do that? How should I go about this?
