Is anyone else here married to a fellow vet? Has it ever gotten awkward when they've expressed a very different opinion/POV about their time in the service when you both actually served together under very similar circumstances? I realize this is a super specific question 🙃

My wife is a Vet and I’m retiring in 207 days (but who’s counting 😂) she spent 4 years in and got out, I’ve gone the full 20, so our opinions differ vastly, based on where we were and how much time we spent in, but all in all, we both enjoyed our time and if we could do it over, we both would, and as she stated, she would have probably stayed in the full 20, but at the time, we had started a family and she decided she wouldn’t be able to leave our kids, so she opted to get out.

Why would it be awkward? Everyone is different even if their circumstances are the same. I think the military is not for me and I describe it as if a hippie had to work a corporate 9-5 job. While someone else who is made to work a 9-5 corporate job might love it the hippie might not.

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

Trying to set family expectations and would love thoughts on 2 things. 1. How long after baby will I be ready for visitors beyond our parents? I’m thinking a few weeks. 2. Our 3 grandmothers are 1-3 hour flights away (3 diff places) and cannot travel. When will we be ready to take baby to see them? I’m thinking 4-6 months but that would also be flu/RSV season. Can’t predict the future but family is already talking about trips and I want to set expectations and do what is best for baby. TIA!!

I am a traditional reservist so I never really used military benefits before, but could use advice here.

I am currently renting and my lease is not up until October 2021, however I found a good deal on a home and scheduled to close in June 2021.

My landlord will not work with me to end the lease early, so it looks like I will have to double up on rent and mortgage through the summer.

If I went on active duty orders, can I use those orders to break my lease early without penalty?
