Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

This sums it up well
No it's not. Lack of stimulating work, toxic (for want of a better word) work culture, unrelated life events all play a role too
Where I thought this was going and where it ended up couldn’t have been farther off

Sometimes this causes burnout
Once burnout starts, it’s really hard to stop. When I was really burnt out, I could barely get myself to work most days. I would unplug for an entire week for “self care” and still felt in shambles when I got back to work / couldn’t get out of my slump.
This sounds like me right now. Did you beat the burnout?
I am burned out from having to process too much information for too long. Like, my brain is fried and needs to relax more. I like what I do, but I want to focus on less things and have more time to think deeply about something without getting constantly interrupted.
Means you’re not interested in what you’re doing. Was in a similar boat. Find another passion to pursue that can also be lucrative
I appreciate that people are much more aware of their mental health, which is a very good thing, but what’s gone on the last couple of years is not normal. I’d be really really thoughtful about being in the job you want (ideally) or that you have a job (practically) RIGHT NOW because the timing of when the employment market is going to correct is not certain but it’s not far away. Don’t panic, and work to have a good support group, but buckle up for a more difficult time.
