I wouldn’t say it’s necessary but more than anything it a) credentializes you and b) gives your a better understanding of the why behind the decisions made by a clients financial advisor/wealth manager. That being said, if you already have your CPA, getting your CFP is easier given you don’t have to take all the classes. I personally hold both and I don’t regret it other than when CE is due lol. You could just get your PFS and you’d be fine.
Manager 1 - can you share your path to getting the cfp? Did you challenge or take the required courses? Did you take an exam prep course?
CFP is more recognizable as it’s the main credential for financial planners, advisors and wealth managers. PFS is a kind of a “add on” credential to your cpa and is focused on personal financial planning.
